Woke up this morning to find my dussumieri dead. So bummed out now. No idea why. At no point yesterday did he show any sign of stress and was out all day actively swimming and eating. Have not added anything in months. Had him for over a year and has since doubled in size since. My orp shows no spike so can even establish a rough time of death. This sucks

Sorry for the loss. I call it mystery death and have experienced it myself and it's very frustrating. I lost both of my CBBs the same way. Fish nice and healthy looking, eating well and no aggression from tank mates. Ate during the evening feeding and dead on the sand the next day. Cuc hadn't even got to them yet. The male had been in 14 months when it died and a month later the female died in the exact same fashion. She had been in 2 years. No deaths years prior and none since

Hard to say much at all once a fish is dead. Is that sand specs on the fish?

Aside from many other issues disease related, running to the glass or tank objects can be a possibility.

Hard to tell with a dead carcass
These fish can be skiddish and can be an impact injury but will be an educated guess when a fish has been healthy prior to loss
Mine is huge and I can understand the pain of losing it

At this point the only thing that comes to mind is that it was killed by of the other 11 tangs. There is very little aggression during the day when they are out swimming. But in evening they have been known to get territorial though it usually is only chasing away for a second or two. But who know at this point.

This happens when sleeping spots are not abundant. The amount of caves to crevasses makes a difference.

Sorry to see that! Tough to say what might have happened - the discoloration on its body is probably post-mortem decomposition. It looks like the caudal fin has some damage? That would indicate tankmate aggression.

Can you post a video of the other fish? Perhaps I can see some impending issues?

He is a video. The tank is mainly tangs. They all show some aggression throughout the day. But no fish is ever excessively targeted or confined to a corner or rock work . Any time any fish body’s up another. The next minute later they are swimming by each other like nothing ever happen. But at this point I am keeping an eye on the clown and powder blue. Though oddly not a single other tang at the moment show any fine or body scratches at the moment. Would imaging to see one with something if a fight ensued.

Full list
Yellow
Hippo
Clown
Scoptas
Naso
Gem
Powder blue
Powder brown
White tail bristle tooth
Purple
Chocolate
Tomoni
Sailfin
Foxface
6 green cromis

If it was a tang, I'd suspect the clown. I had a sohal that was prone to fits of rage, it would target another fish out of the blue. Sohal are meaner than clowns, but similar enough.

One other observation - I don't see a lot of surface agitation. Is there a good skimmer in the sump? I like to see more bubbles, as they assure good gas exchange.
