So what are your thoughts on Emerald Crabs?
I had one once upon a time and hated him... but in reality it was because he was eating my Choc Starfish...
After that and having clams I was always careful with crabs and not getting them..
Well now I dont have clams and i dont intend on keeping stars...
What else should i watch for if i got an Emerald?
They apparently help eat algae right? Bubble Algae and Hair Algae ?

I have 3 or 4 in my tank they dont seem to be any issue with anything besides having a harelquin shrimp, a couple of peppermints and a coral banded

I've seen them nip at LPS, even significant damage on an elegance once. But, I think it's rare. Always a chance....

I used to have Emerald crabs but I got rid of them and kept them in my sump. My reasoning was because one nipped at my Mandarin causing a huge laceration on its side. Unfortunately the Mandarin died days later due to infection. If the crabs are REALLY hungry, I have seen mine go after my fish while they were sleeping. That was the final straw.

I have always kept Emeralds in a mixed reef and never had any issues with them at all (or maybe I just never noticed the damage lol??)

I have 3 or 4 now and I like the little guys. They were successful in eating all the algae in my tank (which is why I originally bought them). Now I feed them a piece off seaweed or a mysis shrimp when I see them to keep them from starving. They've never bothered any off my corals
