Emperor Angel not eating

I am not sure how long the fish was not eating before it was moved. All I am saying is that in general, sometimes they just choose not eat and there is nothing wrong. Obviously not the case here... I just read the entire post :) and agree with @Jay Hemdal

I gave it about 2-3 weeks before removing it. It happened to stop eating right about the time I placed an order with Dr Reef. I put the emperor in QT when the other fish arrived and needed to go into the main tank.

@Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081 whats the prognosis for a fish in this condition? Should I expect it to start eating at come point during the treatment? I’m not sure about the vision loss either, and how that may impact its ability to even eat.

It takes prazi 24-48 hrs to take effect. Within 8-12 days should be eating/nibbling and showing less to no symptoms

I’m hoping it’s not blind, and not convinced it is. Still swims around the QT and appears to avoid the walls. Occasionally a light bump into something. I guess we’ll see.

Probably a long shot, but Emperors are bold fish so maybe try to target feed a large piece of fresh Clam or on the halfshell (angels' favorite food) with a pair of Tongs.

Worth a try. My emperor goes nuts for Fresh Clam on the halfshell. I think he would eat even if he couldn't see well.

Seems a little too soon with fish in distress and every fish has a favorite or enticing food. For me , its LRS Herbivore frenzy, for an Angel owner in my club, its plankton, mysis and vegetation as they are grazers. It varies fish to fish

These may be holes from flukes as fish responded to treatment. Fins looking better. Is fish eating?

No eating that I’ve been able to witness. Tried flakes, pellets, mysis, clams. Unless it’s sneaking bites when I’m not watching, no luck yet.

To see if its sneaking food in your absence, next time you feed, set your cell phone on video mode for about 30 mins and drop a little food and walk away - YOU MUST walk away as they know youre there.
Review the video afterwards and see if eating

will give that a shot. I did leave a clam on the half shell earlier for an hour and it looked completely uneaten

I recommend in the QT tank which its currently in and add air stone, yes. No risk to fish listed
Dose at 85% of recommended and apply initial dosage known as an interval lasting for 7-8 days, do a water change and do one more 8 day dose interval
Use airstone with prazi as it does reduce both oxygen and appetite. If running a skimmer, leave cup off first 24 hrs as skimmer will go nuts from the glycol solution in Prazi

For the main tank, I did a large water change today (10 days after 85% prazi) and gave another dose. What are the next steps?

Btw, skimmer has been going nuts the entire time. Cup is still off. When will I be able to use it again?

36 hours is what I use, but after 24 hours is fine. You’ll need multiple doses though.

I just gave the second dose. Will I need a third? If so, when?

Re the skimmer, even after a week I couldn't put it on - it just filled up with water in 2 mins. Maybe after treatment is done, and water changed, and carbon is back it will let me use the cup again....?

The dosing suggestions are given in the partial I posted.

Your skimmer needs to be adjusted way down after a prazi dose - by either turning down the flow rate, turning down the air, opening the release valve or all three in some combination (depends on the type of skimmer that you have)

@Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081 I will be treating this Vlaminggi tang with Kannaplex. Do you think it would be good for the emperor too? It hasn't really gotten much better, so I figure the Kannaplex may do some good for it too.
