Just sending some update photos of the reef. Most corals have been growing good. SPS cant stay alive so my birdsnest, anacropora and green slimer all died. Doesn't surprise me as I set the flow and lighting to please the LPS.

Battled Euphyllia eating flat worms as well. Pulled about a dozen monster sized ones off my holy grail. Havent seen any after dipping all Euphyllia and scraping all eggs. Almost lost the holy grail but its recovering well.

How do you like the MP40s in the back compared to the sides

Sorry never saw this question, I like them on the back because it makes a cleaner look but it is a lot more difficult to achieve the flow I want through the entire tank (the dead center is a lower flow area) but I made it work to my advantage by placing all my torches in the center

Adding in an update photo to show my struggles of hair algae, tank still looks good otherwise but out of all my years of owning reef tanks this is the worst algae outbreak I have ever had and longest outbreak.

I also fought Euphyllia eating flatworms and Brown jelly disease. Lost a grim reaper torch a couple heads off my hellfire and almost lost my holy grail. Recovered from all that though and now just fighting the hair algae.

I have a Mariner 100 with Reef Octos. They’re nice, but I’m jealous of those with wet-side-swappable MP40s. Seems to make cleaning much easier. Even after 10 months I’m amazed by the amount of coralline algae.

Yea I am going to buy new cages I think so i can swap them out and clean the coraline off every few months.

The cages aren’t the main issue; it’s the algae on the unit itself affecting the flow.

Oh, yea i pull the wet side out every 2 to 3 weeks and fully disassemble and clean off the algae. Takes only a couple minutes
You’re much more diligent than I am! That will work fine.

Super cool aquascape! A couple of turbo snails, a tuxedo urchin, and 3-4 emerald crabs will take care of your hair algae. Good luck.

I have a pincushion, a texedo, an incredible amount of snauls, and 1 emerald crab. I just started using activated carbon and I actually think its helping

Throwing in some updated photos. Still battling hair algae, and I thought I was starting to win but I was wrong. Going on like month 6 now of a losong battle.

I got a regal angel and wow what a stunning and awesome fish!
