I only use PETG for in the tank stuff and for most around the tank stuff as it is more UV resistant and heat tolerant than PLA. I use PETG for probably 80 to 90 percent of everything I print.

While it is a little different from printing PLA it is not much harder and most systems have good filament presets today. Bambus can print PETG beautifully. PETG does need to be dried if it has been sitting out a long time but it does not need to be printed from a dry box. PLA also benefits from drying but you can use your X1C as a dyer for most non-engineering filaments. Just search for X1C filament dryer and you should get some hits on how to do it.
I got vacuum bags with some silica satchel bags for keeping things dry. I store all of my PETG this way except for the roll I have loaded. My printer is in an enclosure and I have a bunch of satchels of silica in there as well.

ABS does not fair well with UV (tends to warp), check out ASA.
Yes, I am familiar with this fact. However, for the amount of UV running from lights, I am not worried. Especially when compared to UV the sun puts out which is what most concern is as it relates to UV resistance. Also, almost all bulkheads are made of ABS. Anyways, maybe it would be a cool comparison to do between the two filaments in a tank. Perhaps I'll do just that if I ever get a stinkin' system set up.

I also use the vacuum bags but I don't have an enclosure so I need to redry loaded filament if it has been sitting in the printer for a long time. I have a simple one spool Eibos Easdry dryer.

Which brand of bags do you use. I was thinking of going this route or simply with a large, air-tight tote with pouches of activated alumina.

The same company is or has come out with a 4 roll dryer. I am waiting to see reviews and if I'll need such a thing.

When Tenecor was first prototyping their AIO tanks they cut ABS for sump covers. They warped like Taco shells. I believe ABS can be treated to be more UV resistant and I don't think it will be a problem with multi-part or complex shapes but a flat sheet will probably not be ideal. Then again I avoid ABS so take my input with a 5-gallon bucket of salt.

I have both SunLu and Eibos bags. I prefer the Eibos bags but they are bulky so I use mainly the SunLus. When I remove a filament, I put it and a silica gel in a bag and vacuum it down. They work really well and save a lot of time over redrying spools.

Oh, yes, in that capacity the lids would definitely warp. I am surprised they would have even given consideration to going that route.

I'll take that 5 gallon of salt as, in some instances, it's worth like $150!

Their dryers tend to fare well in comparison tests. Check out 'My Tech Fun' on YouTube if you wanted over the top geeky reviews of filaments and dryers.

These aren't the actual bags, apparently they no longer sell the ones I purchased. These are basically the same but with a better vacuum valve.

The bags I linked apparently do not have a vacuum.
Eibos sells a USB-powered vacuum pump that looks like it would fit the seal. The Eibos bags are similar but the valve is in the center so it ends up over the spool hole and the SunLus come with a hand pump and a simple gland-like vacuum port.

I never thought about storing filament like this in bags...

Assuming you could just use any vac bag that has a good seal? We have a bunch that we used for blankets/bedding that aren't being used.
Pretty much, as long as the spool fits in the bag and it can be sucked down to remove most of the air.

Word on the street is that @tbrown is very good with a hand pump!

I made it home earlier than anticipated but only for a quick stop-over so I plopped the body of the scrubber off the plate and started printing the front and screen.

The light bracket fits super tight into the body so I'll have to work on that some I think but if I can get it to squeeze in there, I don't need it to be removable.

Good morning, TIm!

I cannot exactly recall your schedule. Truth is I have a tough time exaclty recalling my own schedule. Anyways, are you off this and next week then start the new gig the week of Christmas? Or are you only off next week?

I'm back at my current job this week, then start my new job on Monday. Then, the new job has the week of Christmas as a paid holiday week.
