I second jcdeng and his question on algae. I've also heard that overfeeding on a daily basis can hurt them or make them recede in size. I've been feeding mine reef roids and fauna marin lps but scaled back when i noticed some colonies pulled back while others had their feeders out.

On algae a good clean up crew comes to mind but I've busted emerald crabs and hermits ontop of my acans digging for food?

Depends on what you are feeding, if its 100% natural and from the ocean then you can feed every day, if its man made then you will want to be extra careful. When a pelleted food says feed one pellet per polyp, they mean it.

Shrimp and crabs will potentially go digging for food so be careful what you add, and as Steve mentioned, never put a peppermint in with your lps.

You are correct! They really don't know what they really have until it's on the boat! Notice the cold water too? Amazing!

We run our tanks at 75-76 with great success! I think I will ask the guys at Salty Pets what the avg temp is at depth.

I used FM LPS pellets to bring back several hurting scoly, hillae, and acans. I used to have hermit crabs that would steal food and the scolys were receding bad. They have come back since getting rid of the crabs and feeding a few times a week. I had an acan echinata that got exposed to air and suffer a lot of damage, losing about half of it's flesh. With feedings, it came back and has covered up all of the skeleton again. I don't go by the one pellet rule and everything seems to do really well. However one time I dropped a bunch on the scoly that is the most aggressive, and the next day it had it's mouth wide open and a yellow tang was sticking his snout in there and eating what I guess was excess. At first I was concerned but there was no damage done. My Desjardini is a pig and tries to steal every pellet I put in no matter how much I feed him before ai target the corals.

Pellets are definitely convenient, but they can be overfed. We have observed pellets can kill Scolymia and Acanthophyllia via bacterial infections from uneaten, concentrated pellet food. Also check your product dates, as pellets can be prone to mold.
