Ok I'm the guy who 5 years ago said I will never go back to halides, lol.
I was forced to retire due to a accident at work. I'm legally 30% disabled. It feels like 50%.
My retirement plan was to get a Mali and train it in the sport of Schutzhund which I practiced years ago with my Shepard "Mako The Land shark".
So that's out and I have cats, lol, always have.

I am very happy with my 4 led systems but honestly after 5 years I miss the halide look. It's different and must be seen to really be appreciated. You halide guys know what I mean.

I am starting this build in a few weeks as soon as the tank arrives.
Electrician comming this week to instal another dedicated 20amp.

This is planned as a growout system and to compair the halide to my led lit systems Side by side.

Current plan
Ext 112
Reef Brite Fxture
Ushio 400 watt
I-power Electronic ballast
I have 10K ushio
& 20k Radium
2 24" Meridian 14K edge bars to start
Aqualogic heater controller with brs titanium heater
Return pump will be the IM pump, I have 2 spares from the 2 other IM systems
Tunze 9410 dc skimmer in return area
I may run ozone
Fuge in second chamber with live GLR rock and a 16hd for light
Esv 2 part with dsr ez-trace in the ato reservoir
Tunze 3154 ato
1 Sea Sweep with Tunze 6105 pump for flow
400 micron mesh socks
I will be ordering GLR but not fixed on how many pounds.
I will cure the rock in tank then transfer some to the sump and to the sump of my 170 to convert it to a live rock fuge.
This is where the tank will sit in the outlined area.
Stay tuned should be interesting.

Hope that you are in good health & shape !
What type exactly is your electronic ballast ?
I have found that my lumatek e-ballasts makes painful noise when I'm switching it to 400W settings...

Are they selectable wattage ?

Do they make weird painful noise when you turn them to 400w option ?

No noise yes selectable.

I have a couple with super lumen setting but only run them at 100%.

Thanks ! Can you share a link to this specific ballast at ebay ? Can't find it

By the way , i know that someone wrote chart that fits "ballast to bulb". for some reason i cant find this chart anymore. does anyone knows where i can find it ?

This is what I am going to run on this system when available.
ORCA and 6105 with 180° of movement.
I like my Sea Sweeps on my 150 but they only move 90°.
I am going to run the 1 in the middle off the eurobrace. It may be all I need for this system.
The price for this with pump is about the same as a Sweep with no pump.

Three 400's will work well over your 400.
That is going to be an awesome system.
Start a build thread so we can follow.

I am not much of a thread starter 🤣 I started one 9 years ago on the 500 and never kept up with it all all. I actually won tank of the Month here on R2R that year 😝 I am willing to answer any questions though.

Oh I would love to have a cpl of those M58 250 Watters..........
Build your own like I did for my M135. Kits are available and old HPS ballast boxes work well.
Very simple to do if you want magnetic ballasts.

Aw man, don't say that. You're retired now and besides, I am pretty sure we will prod you along for updates when things go too long without any.
