What are your favorite snails? Right now I like the trochus snails. A lot of the snails seem like they don't make much of a dent but these guys seem to work. Turbos are lawnmowers but seem to inevitably die and make the algae worse. Astraeas just seem inevitably flip upside down get stuck and die. What have you guys found with the different snails?

(+1) on banded trochus. Mine are breeding like crazy and keep everything looking great. I have a few Nassarius as well for the sand bed, and a Florida fighting conch which is a beast.

I like money or ring cowries. They decimate hair algae, don't bulldoze the tank, are super hardy, and don't eat coral like other cowries sometimes do. I like fighing conches, too, but they are about ten times worse than a turbo at bulldozing corals. My fighing conch would actually climb the rocks, looking for hair algae or other food.

My favourite snail is my Tiger Nessarius Snails! They used to climb the glass and dive bomb from the top. now they just hide in the sand most of the time, but they're my fav's.

Banded trochus (black and red), nerite, cerith, tonga nassarius, and sand conchs. I've tried a bunch of varieties. These are my favorites :-)

Did you know they are a predatory whelk? Just mentioning it in case you didn't know.

Gotta love stomatellas, as they almost have personality. Love Banded trochus, ceriths and the smooth nerites.

I just added new snails to my tank, I'm dealing with gha! I have trochus, nerites, Florida Cerith, dwarf cerith, limpits a chiton and fighting conch! All of them seem to be contributing to cleaning my tank up, but my favorite by far is my Conch! He is completely awesome, but as stated above he will definitely mow over anything on the sand. Forced my to quit procrastinating and get the frags off the sand and glued in place on the rocks, which wasn't a bad thing!!!:)

I feel I should also mention that I absolutely love olive snails. The size, the way they bury themselves so fast, move around the tank like crazy. Unfortunately I watched a three-inch olive snail eat an inch and a half olive snail whole. That was the last olive snail I had lol. It was amazing. You could see the entire smaller snail inside the rear of the bigger one!

Babylon snail! It sits under the sand most of the time but the combination of him and my fighting conch keeps my sand bed white. Every time I feed he arises out of the sand and moves VERY fast all over the tank looking for food. I usually feed him one silverside tail every week and when he is finished with it only the bones are left!

They are less likely to go after other snails and clams if you keep them well fed.

My fighting conch is definitely my all time favorite. Not only a good cleaner but really entertaining when he's out. But he does bulldoze any thing on the sandbed, though that isn't a big issue even at least for me

I love how they streeeeetch on the glass from the weight of their shell. Their eyeballs are just crazy. You're right, I forgot about them, but they are awesome.
