Hey Guys,

Well I think I have made my first oopsie, I think I rushed my aquascape and now im running into a few things. 1 fish hide in it 24/7 so I never see them or know if they are alive/dead. I do not have any corals in the tank currently. Is it too late to rescape with the fish in there, or should I ride the whip and let it go. My fear is down the road, the uglies and bad stuff will also be able to hide in there as well. Will it be too stressful for the fish to rescape, or if there is a time to do it would it be now before I get further along?

Can we have some pics? Hiding areas are what to strive for, not shy away from.

If you like the current scape visually I wouldn't change a thing. If you do tear it apart, my only recommendation would be to use smaller pieces, with same overall amount, and create even more caves and features.

Can you list the fish? Some species are timid/shy. But hiding can also be a sign of something wrong, whether it be disease or aggression etc...

I agree with others! Looks great, I wouldn't change a thing. The fish NEED plenty of places to hide and feel safe. Just make sure all rocks are sturdy in their positions so snails and powerheads can not knock them over.

The 2 that seem to hide the most are purple fire fish, I only know hes alive because he comes out to feed and thats it. There is also an itty bitty watchman goby who I havent seen in 3 days.

Those caves look great and there appears to be enough gap in between to allow for some flow to pass through. I think your scape is perfect as is, the fish you mentioned are known to be skittish
Awesome thank you! yea the flow seems to be making it from end to end which I was worried a little about but seems to be making it.

My fire fish did the same thing. Hid for months and only came out sometimes for food. Then he started to hide when I put food in and would come out after it was all gone. Now after a year he’s almost always out

I added a chromis and a small wrasse, the fire fish hid 100% for several days. I didn’t know if he was attacked, injured or even alive. Then one day he was out like nothing was wrong and has been out everyday since. They are skittish and shy fish, it’s normal

You rock is awesome! The goal is to have a ton of caves, tunnels, negative space not only to allow water to flow thru but to allow the fish a place to hide. I have even hear them referred to as Vision Breaks to help defer aggression. I have a few goby's, wrasses, a lemon peel, pygmy angel etc. These smaller fish love to move in and out of all the holes in the rock. Chasing each other, playing what I assume is hide and seek.

Like Vintage said, some fish hide until feeding time, others hide till lights out. I have noticed that after a few weeks of regular feeding, my fish will "rush the glass" when I come into the room and start looking at my tank. Even my shrimp do this now.
