Hey you're right down the road from me! Awesome build so far, your corals really need the extra room. How did you build your stand doors? They came out great.

Doors are 3/4 ply with a high gloss laminate on both sides and edges. Most shops will laminate it for you and you can cut and laminate the edges. It can also be done with high strength contact cement and lots of weight.

I'm right across the bridge in Fort Myers, I was thinking of doing the exact thing with my stand just in gloss white. Would you mind telling me where you got yours wrapped?
I had a 90 as my last tank as well, I know the dimensions are not the most friendly for grown out colonies, I'm ecstatic to get my 150 up for some extra room.

Awesome, check out our local club Swfmas.com we have some great events and activities planed for the year including frag auctions and reef confrence!
These were done previously, but any cabinet shop can press the laminate for you, white is a common color and can get it in 3-5 days. Plywood runs 40-60 a sheet and laminate is 60-100$ pretty easy to do with some concrete bags and even weight.

Appreciate it, more modern then I planned may have to make some new furniture in the living room to match, but it's growing on me! I'm considering making the perimeter ledge and floating canopy out of a high gloss black laminate for contrast.

After gathering some info from the diy community, this morning I removed the assembly added additional brackets and gussets to the corners and lock tighted and torqued down all nuts. Got the unit re-installed and load tested it. Compressor weight is between 35-40 lbs and at full extension deflection was no more than 1/16- 3/32. I'm calculating the canopy at 70-80lbs so I shouldn't have more than 3/16 deflection when extended. Luckily it will only be fully extended for maintenance And coral placement and cleaning.
