So I set up an Oceanic 144 half moon.

The drain tubing is the standard gray flex tubing that slips over the barbs on the bulkheads.

The issue I’m having is how long they are. The width of the cabinet is 57” sump is 36”. Tubing is 6’ and 4’. Way too long and getting a lot of sloshing.

I have found 2’ lengths which would still work but would still have dips in it.

Since they are slipping over barb fittings, am I able to cut the flex tubing to the length I want? That would mean removing the fitting on the end of the hose but I’m using hose clamps to secure to the barbs. I would connect the cut end to the bulkhead on the tank, not to the ones on the sump, so water is only flowing down. Seems dicey still.

If there are other solutions, I’m open to them but the system is up and running so changing out to rigid isn’t an option.

Maybe?
Flex pvc for Spa’s and hot tubs, available at Lowe’s?

Attachment to the barbs ?
My concern wait cutting is that it isn’t going to get a tight fit. Liking if there’s been any experience with it

pic? As I'm not sure what the issue is with cutting flexible tubing unless one end is factory tapered or something.

There may be no issue. I just have no idea and don’t feel like flooding lol

Wondering if cutting those fittings off will do any harm

Yeah, I see the issue. Might depend on whether the inside of that tube is smooth or also corrugated. If it's corrugated, might have a problem sealing. What does the other end look like? Can you zoom out so we can use the extra length you're talking about. Might be able to just replace the whole thing with a tube that can be cut easily vs cutting the existing one.

I don't think you can cut those type of hoses
Yea, that’s my thought as well. Maybe I’ll get vinyl tubing the correct length and attach it to the bulkheads. I have a new sock holder to install and waiting to get this taken care if to do it all at once

I guess a temporary solution might be to support them with straps at the top of the cabinet so the water doesn't go down then back up. Have it like a sideways S at the top of the cabinet right under the tank.

Cutting and fitting spa flex is easy. Just have a mug of hot water around to dip the end of the spa flex in for 15-30seconds and it will push onto the varb easily. You can even heat it to get it to turn corners a little tighter.

My concern is being loose because of the spiral. I would still use clamps
