Flippers reef 125 gallon

No, it was in Saint Charles, mo, off of hwy 94 and 70. It was called “tropics”.
The store your thinking of might have been “tropical world”. The other back in the day that was one of the best saltwater stores I’ve ever been in was “Inland Marine”! God I miss that place!
It was taken by the airport expansion long ago.

You from the lou?

Yep! That was the one!

Yes, I was born at St. Mary's. :)

My ex worked at the hospital in St. Peters, Barnes West. I went the store in St. Chaz.

Small world eh?

Yes it is!

My wife worked at Barnes st.peters as a contractor 8 years ago.

I was born at St. Luke’s.

Oh, btw, we may be coming to the STL in the fall next year. My son will be graduating from basic at lost-in-the-woods and I want us to run into show them around some.

Very cool. He’s committed to join? I signed for my son while in high school to join a year out. He did basic at ft.jackson, AIT at ft.gordon and in Germany for two and a tour in Kuwait and ETS out of ft.hood. He’s been out now for 5 months.

I did my AIT at Redstone Arsenal back in the day!

When you get up here, give me a heads up and come by for a look see at my tank. Your welcome to do so.

Awesome! Will do.

Yes, I am taking off work Wednesday to go to Nashville for his swearing in.

He starts basic 6/17.

I am so proud!

When he is done with AIT, he will start at UNA (most likely).

Yep, Army family here.

I joined in 88 due to a work layoff. Spent time up in Seattle for two years and then two in Germany. Got out in 92 because my mos was no longer. 55G.

Son went in as a communication specialist. Glad he's out. When he was in Kuwait, I was worried his was going to be deployed to Afghanistan. Didn't happen.

Huntsville reminded me of Missouri when I was there. Been through Alabama quite a few times going down to Destin Florida on vacation.

Well, the next time you are through here (you pass right by my exit on the way to Destin), dinner is on me.

We have a lovely home town restaurant here.

Sounds awesome!

Update: coral colors improving!

Been awhile since I updated, work and family keeping me busy.

Just been cleaning my sump. Cleaning pumps and skimmer.
IMG_20181019_173837.jpg

I've got some ugly palythoas that are running rampant in the DT. Its time for action.

I built a manjano wand sometime ago. The problem I have with it is it can discharge some carbon into the water. Blueish cloud. The other is killing palys can discharge some nasties into the water.

Light bulb came on. Why couldn't I incorporate the wand and gravel vacuum?

Pictures to come.

I look forward to seeing this. Picture will be cool, but video would be better. Maybe get Milo to film it?

I think pictures are great but a video would be better. Have Milo film it.

Modified diy manjano wand. Will do a test "kill" today of the palythoas that are running rampant.

If all else fails to eradicate them, I will have to change out the rock they are on for some rock I have in my sump.

We'll see.

.

That teal Tupperware reminds me of a question I had. I know you explained it’s purpose but I can’t for the life of me find where you described it. Bubble noise control?

I’m looking for a noise reduction solution for a non siphon overflow (settling tank to main sump) and I think this was a similar idea.

Cheers

Edit- salt spray control. First page. I don’t know why I didn’t see it before

Yes, salt creep and spray.

I diy'd a manjano wand sometime ago. I wanted to control the dead/loose tissue from the "zapping" that happens when you use one of these.

So, I used it and IT WORKS! vacuums the pieces up as I zap them. The only thing is it can take time and water. With a valve on it I can control the amount it sucks up and into a bucket.

I'm happy so far, it will take time to get their numbers down. But I'm patient.

I thought maybe you were a Ghostbuster. You may need to patent this methinks.

It needs tweaking. Disassembly is needed to clean it properly, so a redesign is needed. A little thinking on my part can get the job done.

Patent, I would need to look into it.
