I bought this back in June thinking it was an alveopora. It looked pretty rough in the store because an elegance had fallen on it (got it for $10 and half dead). So I’ve let it adjust to the tank and it’s shown a lot of growth. The coral has also bounced during its recovery. I was talking to a buddy about it and we realized that it only has 5-11 tentacles on each polyp (most have 11). I’m not sure if it’s just a weird alveopora or what. Any ideas?

hi,looks like a recovering well alve to me :)

It's an alveopora. It's missing some tentacles as they were probably munched on or cut during fragging. The easiest way to tell the difference is alveopora have 12 tentacles on each polyp while goniopra have 24

All of the polyps have at most 11 with a few having less. I think it just has weird genetics haha
