Hey everyone I have reason to belive that my bristle tooth tang has flukes. Last 2 days I have seen him flashing and scratching on glass and rocks. I thought I saw some white spots on him but as of today I don’t think I can see any. Nearly impossible to get pic or video of him since he is very skittish and goes to cave I get close. I fwd him last night and appeared to help a bit today and he’s not scratching as much. I belive they are in his gills as this video I with attach shows the worse of what he did yesterday even though it’s hard to see. (White light he doesn’t come out). He still swims and eats normally just shy a lot but has been normal since I’ve had him. Had for almost a month qt with Prazi pro for over 2 weeks. I am a newer reefer but have read that you can use prazi pro in a reef tank and it works and won’t hurt coral. Not entirely sure but want clarification. Should I fwd him again? I have a qt tank with fish already in it waiting to go in in about 2-3 weeks. I also read that if one fish has flukes like 99% the rest do, is that accurate. Do I need to qt all of them too or can I dose prazi in tank? Or should I fwd him again and see if he improves? Thanks for help. Video is what he was doing before fwd haven’t seen it like that since just scratching here and there.

Flukes you generally cannot see with the naked eye. The symptoms described suggest flukes and other signs will be gills will be red or swollen with rapid breathing, fish acting lethargic or swimming near the water surface, hiding in the corner of tank or behind rocks, loss of appetite, shaking its head, flashing/darting, develop clamped fins, , or scratching against objects. They may also exhibit what looks like yawning from gill irritation develop, cloudy eyes and loss of color.
You can treat for flukes safely as a preventative measure. Dose at 85% of recommended and apply initial dosage known as an interval for 8 days, do a water change and do one more 8 day dose interval
Use airstone with prazi as it does reduce both oxygen and appetite. If running a skimmer, leave cup off first 24 hrs as skimmer will go nuts from the glycol solution in Prazi

The symptoms of flashing darting and scratching against objects fits him. But other than that he seems completely fine. Still eats no lost of color no lethargy or swimming at top of water. Just to be certain prazi doesn’t hurt coral or inverts and is reef safe correct. When you say dose 85% of whatever is says like 1 teaspoon for example, dose that on day 1 and then don’t dose again until day 8 after water change and repeat once more?

I think this is still likely flukes as @vetteguy53081 said. Sometimes in a tank, there are bacteria that breakdown prazipro - which is why it's often best to use a clean tank with for example a sponge filter. The usual protocol for prazipro is 85 % of the recommended dose - treating ALL fish that were exposed to the one that had symptoms.

Usually prazipro can be used in a display tank - however, given what you said, unless you made a dosing error, it's possible that your tank has the bacteria that metabolize prazipro more quickly. The usual treatment is 1 dose on day 1 then again on day 8. Some fish need 3 doses.

I would not do another freshwater dip unless the fish has severe/significant distress - since its not a cure but merely a temporizing method

Note that Ich (you said you though you had some white spots) - can also look a little like this - and you may need to consider copper as well if they have not been treated - if you see further spots.

I would tend to re-start the quarantine on all of your fish (including those in the current QT tank - as you'll need to leave your tank fallow (display) for 4-6 weeks.

I just set up a qt tank in a tub with a sponge filter which adds oxygen and I’ll a wave maker for for o2. Since I will be restarting all qt I guess I can add all fish in at same time which works I guess. Can I keep inverts especially the cleaner shrimp in Dt? Or does he have to go to qt too. Gonan use prazi with the 8 day 2x treatment. So hopefully in 16 days or after that all fish will be good to good. I can tell that the tang is still scratching on rocks and might have saw which looked like a scale in the water. Also saw 1 anthias go to the cleaner shrimp and sit there next to him so assuming all fish on flukes. No visibly spots anywhere so hopefully just flukes.

I would consider treating them with copper as well - since you said you saw spots - and it would be terrible to go through all the trouble and then have to start over. Watch them carefully for spots while in QT

I'm losing my fish one by one to flukes. I initially thought it was ich and had put Polyp lab medic in the DT, I only treated it twice with it. But now for sure it is flukes. I've been trying to catch all the fish with some luck. Any advice? Can I put Prazipro in the DT after a few doses of Polyp lab?

Polyp lab medic is peroxides salt and does not work. You will need Prazipro dosed at 85% of recommended. When you enter the prazi allow it to remain for 8 days. Do a water change and apply one more dosage lasting 8 days. I also recommend adding an airstone
