Hello I recently added a group of anthias from a friends tank to my Dt. I’ve seen the tank/fish multiple times and we’ve traded before so I don’t qt stuff we swap. 2 days ago I noticed one of the anthias straying from the group with popeye and hiding in the rocks when I got a good look at him he was pretty beat up. I figured the popeye was because I just installed a new skimmer that was dumping crazy micro bubbles into the tank. Not that he’s so beat up I believe it was flukes. I moved him to a different tank but he did not make it. Today I noticed a black dot on my foxface and my hippo looks like it’s been scratching with specs near his tail. I dosed prazipro and have airstobes going in the tank. When I dosed prazi there were white specs floating all around almost instantly. Is it safe to assume it was flukes and continue the dosing routine or could I have just killed a bunch of random other things in the tank? Also my tank is 180g to do a 25% water change multiple times is a pretty big ordeal using 5 gallon buckets. Am I safe to change a smaller amount let’s say 20 gallons each time? The tank has been up and running for 15 years and this is my first encounter of this sort. I appreciate the help greatly!

Not sold on flukes but would like to see a video utilizing bright white lighting, no blue to clearly determine

I’m having trouble attaching the video I will keep trying these are the pictures I got earlier. The white specs in the rabbitfish are from my glass but the black mark and the line down by his pec are what I’m looking at

The "White Specs" you saw were not likely Flukes. You can only see one type of Fluke with the naked eye and if you had that many Neobenedenia come off your fish would be writhing around or even dead. More likely the Prazi killed off some harmless marine worms. If your fish were loaded with Flukes, you might notice the swimming and darting oddly after dosing as the Flukes dislodged. I wouldn't change any water yet, but I would post additional pics or a Video.

Micro-bubbles don't actually cause supersaturation (which can cause popeye). Popeye has two causes - supersaturation (which you cannot see) or physical damage. I suspect the latter. Supersaturation would affect all fish of the same or similar species about equally. Supersaturation is caused by an air leak on the intake side of a pump that injects invisible dissolved gas into the water. Micro bubbles actually help relieve that (like shaking up a can of soda). I wonder if the anthias are fighting. Moving a group of fish often causes the dynamics of the group to change, and fighting can result. Are you seeing any ripped fins on the affected fish?

The fish could well have flukes in addition to this issue, but a video would help identify that.

I still am not sold on flukes and Neobendendia would become more pronounced. The popeye suspect cause is injury but clear pics again, would reveal such.
Foxface are somewhat clumsy and injury suspected and the little bumps on the hepatus tank revels skin irritation which they are prone to.

I’m trying to get one under white lights but when I turn on just the whites all the fish go into the rocks. The foxface only has that one spot I’m more concerned about the tail area of my hippo tang it looks pretty beat up on both sides but I never see him scratching on anything. If it’s safe to say it’s not flukes then I’ll probably just clean the filters and hopefully can get the protein skimmers back on without overflowing.
