is it rude to have a few corals put on hold when you go to a frag swap but not get all the coral you asked that person told hold because you found a piece you liked from someone else but you couldn't get that piece if you got all the ones you had put on hold?

Yes and no, if you waited until the end of the swap and kept the person from selling the frags, it would be rude. If you advised the seller in a timely manner, then no, it's not.

IMO it's rude no matter what. Perhaps they wouldn't have brought the coral to the swap had you not reserved it. This is why anything I pre-sell is prepaid. PayPal FTW. Don't be flaky ;)

Now if you're talking about picking them out in person at the swap, asking to hold then backing out, that's on the seller just as much. If I'm holding it for you, it's being paid for at that time.
