Greetings guys.
Could not find much info online.

Do Galaxea corals sting one another from different families?
i have three different kind of Galaxeas near to each other and one of them after being stung totally by the other two.
The one that is losing the war is the common green tip ones. The colourful ones are actually more aggressive.

Not sure if its due to high flow but in the LFS and other places. they are all placed together in low flow and very well behaved.

The last coral i knew having aggression to each other was Lobophyllia.

glad to hear more experiences shared.

Galaxea is a genus of coral that contain a few different species, six if I remember correctly,

Different species would likely sting eachother, as I'm sure their arcospheres contain different densities of nematocysts/ and or stronger stinging cells themselves between the different species of Galaxea,
that being said, why some do, and some dont is over my head.

I still think they're very nice corals and their sting can be avoided by having them controlled on one rock down flow from nearby corals

Thanks for the input.
True that some galaxea genus do have bigger and fatter tentacles and polyps.
Maybe also thats why the more coloured ones have stronger densities of them within the family.
But no real studies to back what i said up.

This is very true as well. also with low flow its quite tamed.
but when its on random flow, it will be pretty hard to control where they(tentacles) will be going.

Great sharing everyone. Grateful!
So in conclusion, its good to take special note when placing even the same genus of Galaxea beside each other.
Not to mention other kinds of corals.

Indeed but must admit it looks way nicer in stronger flow :)
