I'm looking to do a DIY aquarium that will be either and 18" cube, of 24"x24"x15" tall. How thick should the glass be? This will be rimless.

1". ;)

The height of the tank has everything to do with glass thickness. At 15" tall, I find several charts that say 1/4" glass, I would compare the price between 3/16 and 1/4 and if it is not much, go 1/4. (Length has a bearing too, but not as dramatic as height.)

I will start looking now, I will try to find an old window or something first, glass can be expensive.

Lol, NM, the 18" cube will cost $35, the other one: pretty much the same. I may go a tad bigger, but I like the other ones dimensions.

I will go with glass cages sheet glass cut and polished, if they can ship it, it will cost around 50-60 bucks total. I think I will go with the 24"x24"x15" tank

Just remember all of the charts are for braced tanks, you should be fine with 1/4 but if it were my mess to clean I would go 3/8.

I saw someone do a 28"x36"x15" tank with 1/4" glass and no rim, I thought he was crazy, but it worked. Also, my 40 breeder, which has no cross brace is 1/4". 3/8" is double the price, it may be worth the security, but that cost adds up quickley.
