Thank you for posting as I am unaware and while I buy from coral vue, am not pleased with both their shipping rates and time in transit until product is delivered. I would have preferred to see this via Amazon![]()
I know there was something cooking between ABC Reagents and Coralvue for the Hydros Maven. But I wasn't expecting this.
Actually they have been partnered for awhile now, but it was a parallel effort on the premixed reagent side. Both he and CV have been selling it for awhile now.Interesting. Seems like he is going into business with Coralvue.
As long as it’s not gouged price-wise and QA is still in place. I do notice that the Neptune ones are somewhat more closer to Hanna results vs ABC in my last purchase. The moment Coralvue had ABC on their website, it was just a matter of time for them to become the exclusive dealer. You'll see them on other sites soon enough. It looks like its the same pricing on Saltwater as buying direct from ABC.
The powder form is still available on site. I might get those instead in the long run.Thank you for posting as I am unaware and while I buy from coral vue, am not pleased with both their shipping rates and time in transit until product is delivered. I prefer pre-mixed unfortunatelyThe powder form is still available on site. I might get those instead in the long run.
Are we able to source the powder elsewhere and premix ourselves? Similar how we source separate DIY components for 2-part.The powder form is still available on site. I might get those instead in the long run.
This is probably some level of lab chemistry I don't want to mess with since powders are easily contaminated and can affect results. I know the ones we use for dosing is more forgiving but I don't think that kind of knowledge will translate well to a level of accuracy we need for reef chemistry testing. Are we able to source the powder elsewhere and premix ourselves? Makes sense. I am all for it since you put it that way. I just hope the prices remain reasonable in the long run.The move makes a lot of sense. He was operating the mixing process out of his basement with large plastic containers, he was already having his in-laws handle all the shipping. Life happens, he may no longer have time or storage to do this anymore. His in-laws may not be able to handle heavy shipments anymore. He was already outsourcing mixing to resellers in Australia when he started. Why not outsource domestically to coralvue.
AMZN won't mix jugs for you, but coralvue will :) Besides, they deserve to be rewarded for risking law suites from Neptune when they started selling the product.
They will remain low enough to undercut Neptune, but that's it.Makes sense. I am all for it since you put it that way. I just hope the prices remain reasonable in the long run.
FWIW - they can charge $100 per ml if they want, that is not "price gouging" by any stretch of the imagination. There is no crisis being taken advantage of and they ARE the alternative, not the supplier of record and these are not essential products anyway. As long as it’s not gouged price-wise
It was just a matter of time I guess... But still, ouch. They are also adding DRM style serialization to their own Maven reagents when they finally do ship...
There is nothing secret about how these tests work. These systems all use well established chemistry. Most of these reagents are not super hard to make, but for most people the time and minimum lab equipment, research and hassle is just not worth the trouble. This is probably some level of lab chemistry I don't want to mess with since powders are easily contaminated and can affect results.
