Just thought I would post a note and say Hello and thanks to all the contributors for all of the great information that can be found on this forum!

I have been keeping freshwater and breeding Killifish and Gourami for 40 years and over the past 5 years or so we have started a couple of saltwater fish only display tanks with relatively good success.. I have to admit that I am not into all the high tech gizmo's available these days, I have always believed that research, good husbandry and consistency will get you further than some gadget.

Now the wife and I have decided that we are going to explore building out a low tech "nano" reef tank with a 40 gal breeder. I am still in the research phase but will soon start building a stand.

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing your 40g breeder build. Many tanks are relatively low-tech and have great success with corals. You can get a lot done with just a little bit of equipment.

Be sure to start a build thread so we can see how your tank progresses :)

!!! Welcome to R2R !!! Breeding and fishkeeping for 40 years make you a fish keeper veteran. Don't forget to post some pics of your 40g breeder setup. That's exactly what I have and love it.
