is this cyano? Trying to figure out what kind of algae is growing all over my tank, and what I can do about it. It’s green slimy stuff that has air bubbles grow up out of it over the course of the day. Recently moved, taking my tank 7 hours on a trip in buckets, and was wondering if the upset of that has somehow spawned this fresh green hell.

Definitely not bubble algae, but thank you for the suggestion @olonmv ! The bubbles are air, no solid encapsulation. They form on the algae surface during the course of the day, bubble up, and then are gone for the night.

Thank you for taking a shot and offering help! This stuff doesn’t seem to fluoresce at all, but my light isn’t the greatest on earth. I appreciate the help tho, thanks again!

Looks to be cyano, there are many methods to choose from to get rid of it. The biofilter/bacteria got out of whack during the move. Need to try manual removal by siphon or toothbrush. A water change to assist with getting rid of anything in the water column from the manual removal. I would use Dr. Tim's method using Re-fresh and Waste away. Can also use Chemiclean, I got dinos after using Chemiclean on a fairly new tank. Many people swear by it. Tank needs more bacteria to outcompete the cyano.

Make this tool to suck out what you can, 1/4" stainless steel stray stuffed into a 1/2" hose with rubber band to seal it. Thanks to TimFish who I got this idea from, I used it to suck out GHA, cyano and some mushrooms popping up where they are not wanted. Just keep it up every day or two until your nutrients stabilize. It will get better. I bet it will work on removing aiptasia without chemicals.
