In the past 20 years I have always thought of a green slimer as Acropora Yongeii. Produces lots of slime, yellow/green in color, grows fast with white growth tips. Lately I see guys posting picture of what I always called Acropora abrolhensis. This one also produces a ton of slime, darker green in color with fuzzy polyps and orange growth tips (fast grower). Just wanted to clear up the confusion. All comments welcome.

Yep I agree with this. I think Green slimer has always traditionally been Acropora yongei as seen in your first picture. I consider the one in the second picture a fuzzy green staghorn, either A. abrolhosensis or A. aspera.

I have both as well. This one I like to call the PE monster. It's definitely does not have the vibrant colour of the real slimer but makes up for it with great pe.

My regular slimer

And the 'pe' monster green slimer

My slimer looks like the 2nd pic. Color, pe and tip color.

This is my old abro. People used to argue with me saying it was a slimmer and they still do. One way to tell them apart is the slimmer corallites extend a little more from the main body. Also abro grows some thick branches

I would say abro for sure. I’ve also never seen a yongei get anywhere near as fuzzy as an abro can get.

I have one of these super furry ones that the OP is referring to. I always thought it was A. Abrolhosensis, but after some googling, I'm really starting to think it's A. Aspera.
Not much for color. Gets some green growth tips under lower light. But that shag tho!

I believe this to be Aspera, and was recently looking for a piece to grow as this colony has been long gone.

While at the LFS I saw it and said,”bag me up a chunk of that aspera”. Dude looked at me like I had two heads. He said that’s a green slimer. Well, I couldn’t convince him and they still sell it as a slimer. Glad I found it and for the record it grows as fast as I remember.

So we have Aspera, Yongei, and Abrolhensis all categorized as green slimer . Abro and Aspera look more similar.

Tumida can be another imposter. Here’s the link to a short thread when I was asking about aspera

Agreed Bali green Slimer is Yongei.

Usually a fast grower for most but strangely in my tank it will sit stagnant for months at a time while I’ve had Millies and Tenuis grow into 6” colonies in a year.

Wow, that is a LOT brighter than mine hahaha.
The last pic does look very similar to the dark green one. This is about as bright as I've seen mine get.
1000011926.jpg

Lost about 3/4 of that original about 6 months ago. A single branch survived. Chopped it up into 3 prices and have been growing them out in multiple tanks. It seems rare enough that it would be tough to replace!
Here's some of the old skeleton if it helps for ID. Interesting that there are none of the normally pronounced axial corallites. In hindsight, this thing must have stopped growing for awhile before it died.

I am no expert by any means but from that skeleton I would say it’s not yongei.
What it is, I don’t know.

Behind the green slimer is the purple which is yongei as well. Just gotta grab a blue when I see one.

Colors in tank are not great, but you can see the structure.

Here is a pic of an online vendor selling “green slimer” which will get passed around the hobby as such. Some coral I argued at the LFS about not being slimer

Last pic is yongei skeleton
