I have 3 tanks

2 deep blue 80 frag tanks and 1 265 marine land display tank

I have radion xr30 pros on my display run light at 65%

On frags I have xr15 pro run lights 65#

My question is my green slimmers are all hairs in my 2 frag tanks but show my poly extensions in my main tank

Could these be my 3 dwarfs angels or could it be light is too strong

I also have trouble introducing new Zoas to the display tank. In my frag they are all big and in my display they close sometimes and retract
Even on the bottom corners
The tougher palys will sometimes make it though
Grandis paly
Pink and golds
Mind blowing palys
Red people eaters
But others I need to put back in frag tank

System is one system

Could be either or, what you’re suspecting. Or many other things too unfortunately. How are the other SPS in your system?

Do you dose or test for iodine at all?

The ones in frag tank is doing fine

I am going to throw out water chemistry since it would be affecting all the corals in both tanks

I am suspecting Fish nipping but I don’t see them nip the coral at all
Of course I don’t watch them all day

Could the power of the light be too much for it Would a powerful light cause a green slimmer to have zero poly extension

Some corals might be fine with the different parameters but other, more sensitive corals aren’t. Or not yet Atleast

My main tank

Please pay attention. It’s the same coral in 2 different tanks water is the same

Maybe it’s angry that you moved it ? Give a little time and see if it gets better.
And or the big change in lights

It’s 2 different pieces
If I put that piece in frag tank it will be hairy by tomorrow

I guess it’s the dwarfs angels

Anyone else experience sps will no poly extension

Well, if I’m understanding you, if the water in the DT is in the same system/shared with the water in the frag tank, and when you move the pieces to the frag tank and all of a sudden it has PE, then it’s only logical to conclude that either
1) it’s the angels
2) lighting
3) flow
4) what else is different in the frag tank?

If all variables are the same except the frag tank itself then yeah something in the DT is pestering the SPS you have.

Any chance you could swap lights for a few days to see if that’s the issue? If that doesn’t solve it then you’ll know it’s likely the angels. I’d assume it’s the angels though since the lighting is pretty similar

Even if the coral itself isnt harmed by nipping PE can be drastically lower during daylight hours by the presence of coral nippers. Especially some dwarf species like lemon peels, where the chances they will nip coral are like 9-1.

I have a flame , coral beauty and a flame back
Oh so even though they might not nip that day. Just having them there will cause the coral to retreat

Does make sense since it takes a day or 2 to show recover when I move in frag tank without angels
