Growth on Snail shell - Algae?

Can someone identify what is growing on my snail shell? It looks like it could be a type of Algae but I'm not sure.

I have multiple snails with algae growing on them! They dive into it to eat it and start moving it around the tank and it grows on them! I wish I had a picture of one of them, its pretty funny how long some of the algae is on his shell!

The 3 long tentacle looking thingy`s looks like a sponge.
