I have an acid hammer coral for several years that has grown tremendously from a single head to many heads. It has seemed very happy and is usually extended. A week ago, I noticed 2 of the heads had receded and died. They were at the bottom and more sheltered from flow and light, so I figured that is why they died. But now several more heads have died -- all on one side of the coral. (See photo below.) What could be causing this and how do I prevent the rest of it from dying?
Thanks in advance for any help!

What are your parameters? Anything change, new additions? Every time I see someone with a big eupyllia i always notice some heads dying

Thanks for thoughts back. I don't think any other corals were touching it before the first 2 heads died. But when I noticed the dead heads, I moved the hammer (it's on a frag disk) and I realized it was touching the edge of a Montipora Cap next to it. I noticed because the Montipora lost its orange color and within 24 hours turned purple/gray. I don't think that could cause the dying hammer problem because the heads that are dying aren't near the Monitpora. (I also since moved the hammer away from the Montipora.)

Attached is another picture, I see more heads dying today. They are receding and seem to be covered in a white slimy/snotty coating.

I did add a new coral (Green Kenya Tree) over the weekend, but it's 6" away from the hammer and was added after the dying started. I did read that it can release some toxins though, so not sure if that could be causing further agitation to the hammer. (Although other corals in tank seem healthy/fine.)

I doubt its the kenya tree, and if it has slime on it, I'd want to get that cleaned up somehow and dipped. I have no idea if it is BJD, but that is a nasty disease and it can spread.

I have tossed 4 torches over the last two months to BJD and just not wanting to take the risk of it spreading.

Thanks. I cut off the dead/dying heads and dipped to hopefully keep whatever it was from spreading. Fingers crossed that the rest of the coral will survive.

Fingers crossed!

I vowed not to wait anymore when I see something off. It has cost me a lot. Better to try and fail IMO.
