So overnight my Hammer melted, not sure why?? my nitrates are 5-10 and phos 0.03, my zoas are doing well they are open and bright. Can Hammer coral just...die? with no reasons? I have a cleaner shrimp, two clownfish and two anthias. All other livestock seem fine. Any ideas?

Same here , found out it was brown jelly disease . Was it covered in a brown slimy coating? Also this disease is very contagious so get that coral out of the tank or you will loose other euphillia's

Not that I noticed. It has been doing well, it was extended and large then the next day gone :(

was it a wall type? i have experience multiple mysterious death with the walls, but the branchings are doing wel

Hi,

I have had huge basketball size colonies get hit with exactly what you described. There are lots of threads where the same thing happens. The heads will disappear almost overnight. Next day the skeleton is bleached white.

as far as I know unless bjd has been confirmed there is no kno cause. The weird thing I found is if you snip off the dead head it stops. If the head is left on it spreads. it happens at anytime for me. No changes in months or recent changes, never found a trigger

I'm going through something very similar right now. The hammer has essentially shrunk into its stem. Still alive though.
It's almost hibernating

I keep experiencing this as well but can't seem to pin point the cause. The only thing i can think of is something in the tank. Bacteria, chemical etc. It is really troubling as i don't know when it will happen and what corals it may affect. Have you all be dosing anything? Kalkwasser, Trace, 2 Part etc. ?

ARE YOU READY TO CONFESS TO CRAZIEST, DUMBEST, FUNNIEST THING YOU’VE EVER DONE IN REEFING?
