Ok. I know what your thinking, "Another 40b ?" Well me too. I've had nano tanks recenty and a 50 tall some time ago. I just always wanted a 40b. I really like the dimensions. Lots of depth not too tall and 3ft long. Well now I have one and decided to start a thread. Mostly for the journal aspect, but also for the feedback and support I'll probably (definitely) seek. It will be a slow build due to budget so until its wet not a lot going on at once. I have a few things done. Tank drilled, painted, and overflow installed. So far so good

What overflow is that? I have my tank, sump (20g long), return (reef octopus), light (marsaqua 300w) and I'm hung on skimmer and overflow.

Synergy reef shadow. It's so sleek @ 16"x7"x1". Very well built and elbows for rear chamber included. Up to 1600 gph. Way more than my 40 will ever push, but that surface area... I'm sure any tank I'll ever build will have one of these. Ill disassemble and take some pics later.

You don't have to disassemble on my behalf. I have my choices narrowed to Synergy, Modular Marine and Glass-holes.

The synergy has slip fittings and a one piece front and rear. No glue joints or bulkheads, all injection moulded. With a lid for the rear to make it quieter and eliminate splashing out. and u tubes to complete bean animal setup.

And here it is...

My new trigger systems emerald 34. Thanks @MarineDepot and @Triggersystems! I actually won this sump from thier may contest. It's the exact one I had my eye on. I've never won anything until now. This has definitely moved me ahead of schedule. I would have waited months to save for this baby.

This is what ive come up with.
1 1/2" out of the overflow reduced to 1" and tying into the sump. Progress is happening.

I only glued up to the reducer in so far. Should i dump the emergency to the return?

Looks good. The only thing is the outlet behind the sump should be a GFCI. Or at least a outdoor cover. U know just in case
