brainstorm time guys, Im really suffering with red slim algae, any suggestions why this has suddenly happened???? What could be feeding it, if one of the 2 wrasses thats not appeared yet had died could that be a food source for it? It seems to have accelerated with 2 things.

1, other day i used revive which killed alot of sps, they all expelled there algae which made the water very cloudy and forced me into a large water change
2, Heavy use of milliput over last 2 weeks.

Help if you can please, Dave

ps, ive never had this algae before

It very well could be where a fish died or other things that you mentioned.

When get a sudden outbreak of this or other algaes I can always trace it back to a death of fish or snails, etc.

How long have you had the slime algae issue? I think that it could burn off and run it's course pretty quickly as long as you're not feeding it.

just a little update. Tank is well and truly clear of AEFW, its been months since i have seen any. All corals seem to be growing well under the 2x 400w lamps but i have found the radiums a little to blue so ive decided to swap to blv 16k (currently have one in)

Its been a long time, 2 years ago I lost every coral due to a heater problem, the tank reached 37 degrees, not one coral survived. Its took a while and the new system has been running 1.5 years now, mostly with frags from fellow reefers who donated to the cause.
