I have been reading a ton of amazing information at reef2reef, and today I wanted to join and get to know more involved. I did freshwater for a few years. Few weeks ago I picked up a 15 gallon tank and now I can’t stop thinking about corals.
I wanted to talk about where I am and my set-up.
Day1. I put lived sand and live rock into the tank and started the pump and lights for 6 hours. Nothing else for 8 days
Day8. Took the live rock out and put in my landscape rock. Basically I learned something and realized my first landscape was terrible.
Day. 14 I added. Dr Tim’s one and only and ammonia.
Day 15. Today. My ammonia is still 2ppm and I’m hoping that hold till tomorrow. Which then I should stop all ammonia from what I read.
I have a bigger pump in the back for more circulation. Also have a filter sponge with an air stone in compartment 3 filter back out into compartment 1.
Compartment 1, just the catch net filter thing.
Compartment 2, I just have a mame skimmer I read it the best place to put it.
Compartment 3 is my heater pump and sponge filter.
I think I have everything set up right. My rock scape has a ton of opens and should flow well. I will add a power jet in a few more weeks when I get coral.
I just wanted to share my set up and see if I’m on the right track.
Thanks all. Also, thanks for all the information I’ve gathered on this forum over the last few weeks.
Also when my cycle is done I heard some say for clean up crew add a few at a time. And some say add like 20 snails and such of different varieties at one time. Should I be adding my clean up crew slowly or get them all in at once.
Looking forward to the journey. I obviously want a 30,000 gallon now
but being in an apartment on the 3rd floor i have my limits and this will have to do for awhile
