Hi all! I'm from Washington, IL. I am just getting into reef keeping. I have been out of the fish keeping hobby for about 10 years. I have had salt fish only, breed fresh water angels, and keep fresh water planted tanks.
My wonderfull wife bought me a JBJ 28g HQI for my birthday. I will be setting it up next week. I'm looking forward to this new venture. I would love to hear any recomendations.

Welcome to R2R!! You'll find answers to any of the questions you have here as you set up your new tank. It's truly a treasure trove of information!

Welcome to R2R!!!

Now what kind of stuff do you like? Of course I am going to vote for a couple clowns. Plus you got to do some zoanthids!

Oh yes clowns. I want a pair of percs. I would like to try my hand at breeding clowns, but that will be a ways down the road. Zoanthids are on the short list. I like brains, shrooms, and frog spawn. I saw a realy cool pair of watchmen gobies today at a LFS, but they will be gone by the time I'm ready. I haven't put a plan together yet. So right now anything goes!

Radreef... Hey fellow Ilinoiser. Your from Franklin Park. How close are you to Chicago Reptile House? Do they still have the fish store next door?
BTW... I'm a big Portillo's fan!

Welcome! Used to live in Springfield myself. Nice to see someone from my old neck of the woods. Lots of good folks here, lots of good information and help when you need it. +1 on the clowns!

nuff40....When you lived in Springfeild, was The Fishman open? That was a realy nice store once upon a time! Not so much now.

Put you a nice scolymia in there. :)

welcome to reef 2 reef, sounds like you are fixing to have a cool project in the making, don't forget to take lots of pictures, and start a tank build thread

I'm kind of close to Orland Park probably about a 45 min. to 1 hour trip. I have been to Chicago Reptile House 4 times. Unfortunately, it's my understanding that the two have gone wholesale and are no longer open to the public. Yeah, Portillo's rocks especially the sausage and beef sandwich, I might go there right now!

Welcome to R2R; please don't hesitate to contact us if we can help in any way. Open brains are nice to offset the zoas, but acans or scolies are also good choices

thats news to me.

That's news to me too, Jeff just sent me an email the other day letting me know they were redoing alot of their display tanks and had a bunch of stuff for sale. I've been goign there since 1995 or so. I even installed some car audio quipt. back in the day. I hope they aren't closing that part of the store down.
