My name is Virginia and I live in the Houston area of Texas. I have wanted a salt water tank for as long as I remember so when I was asked to rescue a lionfish that was in a classroom tank at the school I work at I couldn't say no. I am super excited and nervous all at the same time. My 10 year old son is just as excited and I plan on us learning all about this hobby together. I am open to any and all suggestions. I love doing research but the information I have found has varied quiet a bit and I now have a headache. lol Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome fellow Houstonian! People here are so awesome not even the metric system can measure their sheer awesomenacity. There is a lot of help to offer!

Never hesitate to ask questions or post pictures no matter the state of the tank. People here love pictures (psst - lets see that lion fish! :)).

Welcome to R2R;)

I am so impressed with all of the help I have gotten here that I told a coworker about R2R. We work with special needs high school students and she has a fowlr tank in her classroom. She is the science teacher and the kids have had so much fun learning about the fish and their environment. The students often have questions and she thought it would be a great idea to have a classroom membership so the students can ask questions and enhance their learning. I am so glad that I found a family friendly forum with so many knowledgeable members. Thanks a bunch guys. I am sure we will start that membership tomorrow.
