Hi I'm fairly new to reefing and my tank has been up for about 5 months.
My tanks specs are:
Drilled 75G with a 30G sump,
EHEIM Compact+ Pump 3000
3 Sun Sun powerheads (one on each end with a small one in the middle breaking the water surface) (I'd love to upgrade to a Gyre eventually)
Hamilton Tech t5 lighting
70+ lbs of live rock (It started as dry rock)
70+ lbs of sand
Livestock:
2 Clowns
1 Diamond Watchman Goby
2 PJ Cardinals
1 One Spot Foxface
1 peppermint shrimp
1 Pink Pin Cushion Urchin
Numerous snails and hermits.

I've used this site many times for research, but never joined up. I mainly hangout on the Mason Dixon Reef Club's site, but it was suggested I join up here for a problem I'm having with my Fox Face. But I'll get to that....thanks for all the help everyone has unknowingly given me and I hope to learn much much more!

Thanks, I'll add some pictures along with my troubled foxface.

I'll post up my problem with my Foxface here, but please let me know if I need to move or create another thread.
I got him from Petco for a great deal (I know it's risky getting fish here, but the fish girl there is great). I also do not QT (another mistake I'm learning). Anyway, my foxface started out with what I though could be Ich. It looked like white splinters in his skin, but they went away pretty quickly. He's doing great in the meantime and eats like a pig, but what followed was black dots and they are spreading on one side and it looks like he's losing scales.

I'm starting to think it wasn't marine Ich, but may in fact be black spot. I order some prazipro to have on hand, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Here's my tank.

What's going on with the foxface?
Thanks for looking so quickly, I posted a picture above...hopefully you can glean something from it. It was suggested it could be a bacterial infection, but to come here and ask because this site has some really good people with sick fish.
He's eating great and I haven't witnessed him plunging into the sand or rubbing on the rocks....I thought marine ich, but now I'm thinking it could be black spot ich or maybe the bacterial infection.

It's pretty easy to verify if you have black ich. A Freshwater Dip will tell you if it's black ich or something else. Click on the link there (bold text) and follow the directions. It's easy! Try not to freak out, it's a lot harder on us than it is on the fish. After the 5 minutes are up, if the black spots have mostly fallen off, then you have black ich and prazipro in the display is the answer. If not, then I'm thinking it could have been ick and now there's an infection in play. Let's do the dip first though and not get ahead of ourselves.

Awesome, thanks. I'll give the fresh water dip a try! Now to try and catch him....

If the black spots don't fall off and it is an infection, will I need to setup a hospital tank to treat that? Just trying to prepare for the worst if I can.

Yes. That would be best. The biggest question is if he actually had ick and it caused the infection. If he did, then you need to pull all the fish for treatment for ick. For now, we can focus on the foxface and you can keep an eye on the other fish watching for ick.
How to Quarantine <- a good link on how to set up a QT just in case you need it :)
