What's the difference between ich and marine velvet ?
Ich is a slightly larger parasite that reproduces with a longer life cycle. Velvet is smaller and reproduces rapidly. Velvet not only has a shorter life cycle but it produces more daughters. This is what make Velvet such a quick killer when compared to Ich.

Yes, it is. Unfortunately, it isn't even very uncommon. I have QT'd several fish that I believe have had both Ich and Velvet. Fortunately, treating with copper cures both and taking the DT fallow for 76 days will also starve out both parasites.

Agree I'm pretty certain you have velvet. Act fast with a qt and copper!

Remember, no amquel or prime (or any ammonia detoxifying products). Use the seachem ammonia badge to ensure ammonia doesn't kill your fish during copper, as it's the only reliable way to know. If it's anything other than yellow, water changes! :)

Good luck, and act quickly. 24-48 hours may be all you have before they die.

I agree with velvet as well. It's imperative to get all the remaining fish out asap and treat. Leave the display fallow for a minimum of 6 weeks.
