Help: Frogspawn and wellso receding

my frogspawn and wellso are slowly receding. any thoughts for reason why? i am using a aqualight 6 bulb 48" t5

had some problems with the alk a while back but it seems stable the corals must be absorbing everything slowly. water changes dont seem to effect the cal or mag only alk. im told that it should be a problem. any thoughts?

+1 You should try to slowly get you Alk near 10. What test kit are you using for these?

Do you add anything for Cal and Alk other than water changes? If not test a freshly made up bucket of saltwater and post up the results.

If your alk is measuring so high you ether have a bad batch of salt mix or your alk test kit is bad. You need to verify the numbers with a fellow reefers test kit.

that alk was very high at one point but i managed to get it back down to 12 the salinity salkt comes with a batch receipt and its high is 12 and low it 10. i have been to the lfs many times with waster and my own test kits and they tell me that everything is fine. i was using api kits to get a base line and they told me to throw them away because they are not as accurate as the red sea. i changed my pumps this week...cut the gph in half and there has been 4 degree change in temp during the day at night think this may have anything to do with it?

The red sea isn't that great either. What's your ph swing? Do you have a controller to constantly measure ph, this would make it ready to measure swing. I ask because that's what happened to mine, the ph was swinging .4 from night to day.

i do not have a controller but i feel the new red sea kits are the best on the market. i also have elos kits which are very good and they all yield the same results

you have clearly never used The Red Sea Pro Kits all tirants are in liquid form...try the before you make assumptions

If you verified it with someone else, then it's clearly not the test kit. I use Salifert, which I like. They just look a lot uglier haha. I would like to see more on this though. I'm having a similar problem with my frogspawn but my parameters are **** near perfect. However, I have a test kit for pH that I don't like and to me is hard to be accurate with when you're comparing colors on a chart. I think my problem with my frogspawn is mainly due to moving it around too much to get it in the "perfect spot".
