help with candy cane

im new to reefing and recently bought a candy cane, gsp and a hammer coral. gsp looks great and so does the hammer.... however i made the mistake of feeding my fish with the pump on. i came back to see my candy cane being picked at because of the flying food. obviously, operator erroe and i feel badly about being a bit irresponsible. however, does this look like it has any chance of bouncing back? if so, shgould i place it in a dark place? low flow? or is it so far gone i should toss it? i really appreciate any advice and/or thoughts.

Never toss until you are 100% certain there is no tissue remaining. Keep it where it is and keep your fingers crossed.

The coral will most likely bounce back. I ran into a similar issue with my candy cane coral. Mine lost most of its tissue at one point because of low alkalinity levels. These corals are thankfully super hard to kill. I’d say the best thing you could do is keep the coral where it is and try to keep everything steady. It may take a while but it will eventually bounce back as long as it doesn’t continuously get picked on. Good luck!
