Looks like its shedding which is normal for them to do once in a while.

I’ve not been a keeper of leathers do they normally close up for several days and do this type of thing?

It's pretty common. Some do it more than others. I have a large one that closes for days several time a year. Mine are also sensitive to being touched and will close if a fish swims into it. Your video looks like it has a decent flow. That is important to help remove the shed that comes off.
