Today was eventful with my gorgonian shedding its old skin layer, hopefully it remains alive. I was unaware that they couldn’t be out of the water at all. I raised the bottom half inch of it while applying glue, hopefully it will pull through. Gorgonian info and today’s debacle is documented in my thread below.

My skimmer hasn’t been pulling anything for a little over a day. I cleaned it completely about 3 weeks ago. The neck is already caked with gunk... ugh I hate cleaning the skimmer ;Drowning

All shiny and new.... that was stinky..

I’m trying to keep on top of maintenance and water changes. The first 4 months I didn’t do a single WC. Just top off with SW what ever the skimmer took out and the ATO. Had the normal minor cyano bloom most newish tanks have. I didn’t do anything besides start doing 20 gal weekly water changes, I just let the cyano run it’s corse. It’s all gone now. I would like to switch to bi-weekly water changes but things seem extra happy(besides my gorgonian) with the weekly WC I’ve been doing... hmm I guess I’ll just keep on keepin on.

I added a little bit of GFO yesterday due to my phosphates being at .25 while having a full fuge.

The tank looks great today! Wish you guys could see it in person!

I’ll retest everything(especially phos) tomorrow to make sure I’m not bottoming out my nutrient.

Had some really good polyp extension on some of my sps today, well good compared to what it has been.. Hopefully they will start growing a little quicker. Figured I’d post a few pics.

Fresh plugs and relaxing in my coral QT.

I’ll post close ups once they have some PE and look better :)

I really hope they all make it!

You guys got some nice frags!!!
Thank you thank you! In hind sight I shouldn’t have dipped the pink lemonade and purple monster so long... they are looking a little rough. They still have skin, but are very bleached :( . I DIY’d a frag rack on the fly as well.

This will be a serious upgrade, the pump is twice as powerful as my current one. Hopefully this will work better with my system! Awesome sale by marine depot on bubble mag stuff right now, and I also redeemed rewards points from stuff I’ve bought throughout this build. This skimmer and some Tropic Marin was only $100 at checkout :D:).

My parameters have been stable for 2 months at what Tropic Marin pro reef mixes out to. After checking out @randyBRS ’s break down of salt mix true price cost comparison, it just made sense to make the switch from RS Coral Pro!! Super excited to try it out, I’ve heard great things! ;)
