So, this is what I did. I have 1" drain lines, and I purchased a 1" suction screen like this.

I had on hand a 1" socket by thread coupling like this.

I didn't want to glue the screen directly to the drain piping, and I noticed the two fit together snugly like this.

I cut the threaded end off with miter saw and slipped it over the bare end of the drain piping like this.

I originally installed this after a little clownfish found his way into the sump, but I never expected it to silence the flow like it did. My durso is almost completely silent unless I need to clean it (which is also nice to have an audible alarm;) ).
Nice! I think I just may run to home depot tomorrow and give it a whirl :)

Hopefully that will help you have a happy wife and a happy life :)
Absolutely! It’s even starting to wake me up in the night to.. it is pretty loud.. haha. During the day it really isn’t that bad, but around 2 or 3am it just sounds so angry, I don’t understand lol.

What kind of overflow do you have? I have two megaflow overflows, and I was having GHA problems in my overflows. I made covers for them out of 1/8" ABS plastic sheet I bought off of Amazon.

The stock old school oceanic one. The weirs are loaded with ulva that I can’t fully get off. None in the display though so that’s good.

Okay, well if you happened to have a megaflow, I was going to let you know I had the CAD file and a scale drawing of the cover template that I was going to offer to you if you wanted it.

Oh well how kind :) I’m not sure what this overflow is called.

It’s on the left side not directly in the center. But not a corner overflow either.

That looks exactly like a megaflow overflow.

I really like your ‘scape. It has a more natural look than the old rock wall up the back like I have. (Granite top is nice too)

Following along for more pix
