Hello, I'm new here and new to saltwater. I've thought about saltwater off and on for a very long time and I've decided to take the plunge. I'm looking into learning all I can with the ultimate goal being a reef tank and a mantis shrimp tank. No doubt I'll want to make more as I go, but I'm here to read and listen to learn all I can to purchase and set up an appropriate tank for a peacock mantis. Currently trying to decide on an AIO vs jumping into the deep end and making my own acrylic with a sump. I'm thinking 36x18x16 if I make my own. I want maximum floor space for growing a peacock, a forever tank so to speak. If I decide AIO I'm thinking a 30 gallon minimum, most likely a 40 gallon. So let's hear it, as I Google and YouTube all the things I want to hear your tips and advice. Good brands for tanks, filtration, pumps, chemicals, substrate, heaters, thermometers, test kits for water parameters all of it. I'm here to learn!

There are a lot of corals, so I have to research and consider a lot no doubt. I will say I love the look of weeping willow toadstool and green star polyps. I generally like things that have good motion in the current. Thinking about anemones and clown fish too.
