Long time hobbyist and enthusiast from Knoxville, TN. Looking to get back into the world of reef aquariums after a 2 year hiatus after having to sell my tank after moving into a smaller location. I just inherited an Oceanic 42 gallon hexagon and I'm looking to get it up and running as a small reef setup! Currently looking for lighting, a skimmer, rocks, and sand. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks! Happy to be here. I've already been perusing the dry goods section. I'm hoping to catch a Kessil on sale, but I'm open to looking for something similar and cheaper. LED is the way to go these days, IMHO. Smaller hit to the power bill and a good light return for corals.

I'm glad to have such a large and warm forum welcome! Tanks everyone! Looking forward to getting back into the hobby. It's been TOO LONG!! Currently in the market for a good used Kessil, or something comparable on the PAR rating for this new tank. It's about 22" deep (will be about 19-20" to sandbed, now that I think about it) and I'm wanting to keep a diverse array of corals. Some montipora and acros would be awesome, but definitely some zoas, palys, shrooms, ricordea, Duncan's, etc.

Thanks again for the warm welcome, it's nice to find a large and helpful community!
