First time reefer. I used some Arag alive sand, not the one with bacteria in it, but the dry kind. I rinsed it several times before sticking it in the tank. It’s been about three days and it’s still cloudy. I just have a sponge filter with ceramic filter media. It has gradually gotten clearer, but I think it’s just the silt settling. I have bio cubes and activated carbon that are not currently in the filter. What filtration media will remove my cloudiness?
Thanks,
Adam

#WelcometoR2R!!! I have found that using filter floss or other polishing media can be helpful to remove fine sand and silt from the water column. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Hey there! Depending on what kind of filter you have, you can add some filter floss to help.

Welcome 2 the Reef :)
Did you already add the packet of water clarifier that was inside the bag of sand?

Thanks. I just got some filter floss, but I have the OASE Filtosmart 60. I’m not exactly sure where to put the floss so that it’s effective. Like if I had a cartridge, I’d just stretch it across that, but the canister has me confused.

It didn’t see it. I think I would have noticed a plastic bag floating around. Maybe they left it out? No, ok I didn’t use Arag alive. I used this:

Diatom filter will clear it
