Of course as others have said, it's really going to vary from the type of GSP and the tank, but 1" per month is pretty accurate.

Keeping it contained is easy enough by just cutting the section out with a sharp tool and scraping it off. They do tend to grow straight up, so several frags spread along the bottom would be ideal. I'll need to go back through and glue some pieces along the sides to fill in.

I ended up putting a few different types along the back wall. I tried as best as I could to put a timeline together for the GSP in my tank to help give you an idea.

Ok great this helps alot.
So by looks of things in 7 months you got about 25% there abouts of back wall covered in your nano tank so guessing its maybe 10- 20 g? 13.5 g if had to guess as seems common size.
My tank little bigger than yours at 80 g so your idea of putting few frags along bottom seems to make sense.maybe 2 each at each side of overflow and 1 at front of overflow and take it from there but if grows up 1 inch per month and my height 26 inch - 2 inch sand bed and 2 inch gap at top so doesnt impact on overflow = 22 inch so ummm 22 months,at this rate but will be few variables off course.
Ovbiously slower at begginning as new to tank and lower down from light and as it settles in and stable and closer to light should grow quicker but still will take quite some time by sounds of things.maybe i need buy more than 5 frags at begginning ( depending on size of frags)
Ok guys thankyou all for your replys.i have much better idea of how fast it grows now so much appreciated.

Yep, 13.5.

You can always just let a few frags start growing out and then start cutting some pieces off to glue in other areas.

Are you dosing your Evo?

I've had GPS in mine since Feb (2m mark) and just about no growth in anything, but also no algae on the rockwork either. Even the Xenia hasn't blown up/ grown much, but it seems happy enough. Lighting is a Radion XR15 G5 Blue.

3x clowns get fed 1-3x a day, so it shouldn't be a nutrient issue. Corals get Brightwell Aquatics CoralAmino and Phyto at least weekly. Phyto was 3-5x a week earlier with no difference.

I use to dose Red Sea AB+ pretty regularly, but started to get quite a bit of cyano and I really started cutting back on that to maybe once or twice a week. I'll also feed Reef-Roids once a week, an hour or so before doing a water change. I do feed this directly to the GSP wall.

Do you test for Nitrate or Phosphate? The pulsing Xenia that I have grows like crazy.

Its funny, some have success and others don't with Gsp. I do not know what I am doing but I can't kill it!!!! I was ripping it off of my rock and the next day I found my tuxedo urchin sporting an GSP hat!! That was 3 weeks ago........ he is still carrying the gsp around and it looks healthy!! I haven't removed it from my urchin yet because I want to see how long it will thrive traveling around my tank.
