I was curious to find out who has the oldest Chalice or Acan colony? Since I'm new to the hobby I thought it would be neat to hear from someone that is able to keep and raise corals for an extended period of time. Gives me something to shoot for

My Brian's Baby Hybrid Watermelon is around 4 years old now.....but down to 1 eye (was ready to call it quits and chopped it all up, but saved an eye)

I have an Acan that started from a single head three years ago - up to about a dozen heads now. I had been out of the hobby for a while and that was one of my first additions when I started back. Also have an Alien Eye chalice from the same time frame...

have a 2 year old acan, which is the same age of my currently oldest setup, so I'm happy with that number correlation, lol. Would definitely like to maintain one for a long time.

Well- I guess it may count...I have a frag of MM which has been in the market now for a few years- guess if we count a frag as being the same age as the MC it originally came from, then that'd be my oldest.

Multiple colonies of both that are ~2 years old. This chalice I've had for about 2 years and it's not been fragged several times and is about 4" across.

My purple urkel is 6 years old, hollywood stunner at 5 (broken down multiple times because of huge size it gets) , acan rotundoflora at 8 years old. Just about all my other chalices are 2 years or older
oregon mummy eye, bubblegum monster, emerald mummy eye 4+ years

I have a single head of an Acanthastrea echinata that I saved from a tank crash 4 years ago. I lost the whole colony except 3 or 4 pencil eraser sized spots of flesh. Over time 3 of them died for various reasons and I only have the one left. It is now the size of a 50 cent piece and I am hoping it will start sprouting new eyes soon.

So far your 8 year old acan rotundoflora is the oldest on this thread. Congratulations!

I've had this chalice for roughly seven years (before the chalice craze took off).....this pic is a few years old.....I grew this chalice from a small single eye frag.....now it is roughly the size of a soft ball.

cheers,
Darren

i have the king midas acan from unique corals...started at 2-3 heads almost 2 years ago...i have about a dozen or so heads now...tyree miami hurricane for 2 years have like close to hundred eyes...tyree bgm, started 2 eyes 2 years ago, have like 20+ eyes...

I have a six year old Indo Acan lord colony. Pretty plain blue/grey but it cost a whopping $32 w/ tax. :D

It'd be interesting to see who has the oldest LPS in general.

I'd think would get some incredible ages on Hammers! My father has been trying to kill (jk) one for 10 years 6 months.

I had this chalice for over 3 years. bought as a lil frag from a lfs. Was never into lps or softies but thought it was cool. turned brown and was neglected for the most part untill it started coloring up under t5's so i made room for it to receive some light from my metal halides recently.
