Are these hydroids? If so do I need to worry and how do I get rid of them because they are everywhere in the sump

I would say that you indeed have hydroids. Would be awesome to have so many small feather dusters in your sump. But I guess that’s pretty unlikely.

As long as you don't have a bunch of them in the display I wouldn't worry about it. If they become an issue discontinuing of any liquid or powder foods should help. If you're broadcast feeding switching to spot feeding would help. Increase of mechanical filtration. But like I said, if it's just the sump etc. I would do nothing.

So I was just looking at some of the rocks in my DT and they are covering a lot of them. I have pretty bad brown algae so i think that’s why I haven’t seen them readily

Sounds like it's a new tank still maturing? They'll likely go away on their own but if you want to make them go now you can implement the methods I mentioned.

Yes it is only about 4 months old now. I will try the method you suggested. Just getting paranoid of getting them and it turning into a real issue based on the threads I’ve read about them.

I forgot to also say, manual removal. Just brush them off the rocks with a toothbrush if you like.

Would that hurt the tank ? Due to them being in the water column?

Like they said above, it should stable itself out. I had some in my DT, and my tank is about 5 months old. I scrubbed them off and did a 25% water change (not necessary, just preference). I do broadcast feed a lot, so I was expecting it. If it persists, maybe cut down on feeding a bit. The abundance of algae could hint at an excess of nutrients, which could allow pests to thrive.
