I just had a triple sensor fail and my ato was just off until i replaced the sensor. I don't think the ato has a fallback mode that guesses how much water to add.

The system has a feature for outputs..."If Input/Dependancy is Unavailable"....Turn On/Turn Off.

For the ATO profile, we build in and assume that if Hydros doesn't know what to do, it turns that ATO pump off until water level is known again.

If you build a Generic Output, then you are able to do those ultra fine customizations.

Woke up at 4am to beeping. Immediately checked phone. Which is nice to not have to get out of bed if its something stupid.

NOPE. Sensor says unknown. And ATO pump went into fallback which I never configured or realized I should have. Thankfully it did not dump a lot of RODI in. Salinity only dropped from 1.26 to1.25.

Unplugged it and restarted. Then plugged it back in. Still dead. Real bummer this sensor died before my other ATO that I paid $35 which was cheaper than the sensor itself.

And of course I don't have a spare. So I retrofit my skimmer sensor for now lol. I think I'm going to stick with float switches.

Back to the main point. Anyone configure their fall back ATO when it fails in the future. This way I'm not dumping too much RODI in. I had it on defaults which clearly is too much. Also can I assign two sensors to a single output? I'm looking up the combiner stuff but nothing seems to match instructio

@Connor At CoralVue do you know?
I have a triple sensor that I was running a trial on before i switch from my tunze. Have to say it iis constantly giving errors and going off. Think i am going to stick with tune for now. Guess the sensor goes back in the box.

My triples work great. I had 5 of them for 3/4 of a year and only 1 has failed. And hydros showed me it failed before I had to realize it failed.
I'm happy anyway.

These sensors shouldn’t fail in 3/4 a year. They should last years. Cheaply manufactured.

That said I use a couple of them. They have worked well so far. In theory I have backups if they fail the system will alert and turn off. I don’t completely trust anything. Especially these rebranded sensors.

Out of the 5 sensors only 1 broke but you are right. If I lose another I might change my mind.

That is the problem. I have optical sensors from Neptune that have never failed. I have float switches that are 15+ years old. These optical sensors they sell seem to last right around a year. Even if you clean them and take care of them. They suffer from water intrusion. I keep a spare on hand.

For the most part I like my Hydros. It is more robust. I have far too many of the controllers. The coding/programming is a mess but it is improving.
