i just installed 24 cree leds in my bc29 and all i can say is holy crap. these things are awsome. i went from having metal halides on a 50g to pc on the bc29 now to led on the bc29. i have got to say the leds are the best. i have avoided putting the more rare stuff in the bc because i knew it would look like crap. now with the leds corals that look like crap look like they can be LE. now i can get back to true reefing. pc's just dont cut it. i will get pics tomorrow. i just finished the light now.

Anyway you can get before and after pics. One with the PCs and one with the LEDs?
I am sure we will be able to tell how nice the LEDs really look with out the pics of the PCs but it is always fun to compare.

well here are some. i just had to post them.

What is the mix of blue:white led #? Did you go 1:1, and is that more of a 14k?

yes i did 12 royal blue and 12 cool white. i would say about a 14k look. i do notice that even though i used a heat sink from nanotuners the out side edges of the tank are a little dimmer. the leds do spotligt areas. i also spread them out as much as i could on the heatsink. maybe i should use optics on the outer leds?

I would say what you need to do is take some time and acclimate your tank to those lights...
It looks great job well done... If you don't turn that badboy down your gonna fry your tank... You just went from the lowest par light to the highest par, please take some time to acclimate your corals accordingly or your gonna bleach your gorgeous tank out and prolly kill alot of it off...;)

Btw optics are not needed in such a small tank.. Take some pics of the actuall light fixture did you build it?? I love this stuff lol...;)

Sweet upgrade. Take troylee's advice though. LEDs are serious. I replaced a 150W MH + 36W T5 actinics with a 90w semiled fixture and the corals weren't very happy at first. Take the time to acclimate properly to the new light and you will be fine. Sit back and enjoy all of the benefits from LEDs!!!

agree with everyone above, acclimation is key. You corals where inside a room with one little light bulb, they walked outside and the sun was sitting in their front yard. Can be a little pain full.
