well we are preparing for a freezing rain/sleet/snow storm Sun-Mon
I have the generator out & ready & gas on the ready
have made 5g. ro water for top off water & am getting 10g more to mix with salt for water change
anything else that I should do to get ready that I haven't though of?
about 10 years ago we had a ice storm & were out of power for 5 days didn't have the reef tank then so not sure what else I might need to do
have a fireplace in the same room we usually don't use it more than a few hours when it really gets cold. would there be any effects on the tank using it long term should the power go out ?
I am thinking if the power goes out the most important things to run would be the protein skimmer & the heater how long can on a reef tank go without the mh light?

Can go few days without light. Water movement and heater will be more important than anything else.

I'm on my way to pick up a generator as we speak, I heard about the power being out for a few days here in Starkville and wife said better get a generator for you fish tank...I am taking her seriously :)

as long as your generator can handle everything you should be fine.
maybe as a backup grab a battery operated air pump in case you need to pump air in the tank.

What part if MS are you at spscrazy?

Meridian well have everything I can think of so just waiting to see how this storm will play out went & got grocerys from wally world Fri night half the shelves were already empty
