just before I redid my tank today. I caught a few spots on my Vlamingi. He’s 8 or 9, acting normal, waters as it alway is. Nothing new for months.

That’s what I am hoping. He usually stay up top away from the rock, but he goes crazy when clams or bloodworms hit. I’ll keep an eye on him. He tough, he survived velvet 6 years ago so a white spot should not be an issue

Thanks again everyone

So I am 71.4% sure ich or lympho.
Could it have come in on a frozen clam or bloodworm? So far everyone else is is fine. Trying to map out a treatment, but still may monitor a day or so more. I know usually better is sooner but scared qt may stress him out even more with the recent redo I just did on complete inside.

Is he flashing or anything? The very first pics the spots looked too large for ich. But now some of them could be from the looks of it.

That’s the weird thing. Not a single change in behavior. Ate 2 sheets nori w selcon and a full clam tonight. The only reason I am not rushing to qt is he gets a good diet and he’s old and tough like me. I may wind up doing the qt and fallow

Thanks again, I guys are great

Not sure frozen food would need to be quarantined. The freezing process usually kills any live organisms by bursting their cells.

Even if one got through I doubt it would be healthy enough to complete a life cycle and cause infection after freezing.

Are the spots progressing? In the newer pics it looks like there are several more.

The original pic it looks like an injury. Now it looks to be something more sinister. Can you catch the fish easily? A 5 min FW dip would allow us to rule out flukes.

In an earlier post you said you just rearranged the tank. This could be a stressor that has allowed something like ich that has been present to take hold.

I think it’s ich, I think the movement of the fish makes some of the spots look like lines/larger.

I also agree with a freshwater dip first step.

Quick question, thanks for the help this far.

I was going to put my piggy, I call him, into a hospital tank Saturday. I was worried the move and meds would stress more than help. (I am one of the few that don’t qt). the spots were more pronounced and moving to the fins and head. When this first appears I bumped up his feedings quite a bit, i wanted to give him a chance to let his immunity do it thing. I stuffed him full of vitamin soaked nori, black worms, clams, frozen mega algae, etc.

I held off Saturday knowing his history of beating velvet hoping he would beat this. Sunday was the same, no let up in spots. Today spots are off fins and head, only see very small specs here and there now.

My question now is how much would you feed? I never fed him to the point he was full. ok to keep feeding him to point of being full or should I back off a bit back to normal levels? He is at least 10 years old, about 8 to 10 inches. He could easily eat 2 large clams and 2 sheets nori. Thoughts?

Thanks again all. Tank would never be the same without my piggy

Shout out to @Paul B
