Ick on clown fish

i put him in a 3 gal qt tank for now. If i add my uv steralizer to the tank willit help kill the ick? Its a 9 watt rated at 50 gph

Sorry about your issue....your UV isnt going to help with anything but the free swimming ich life forms...you need to treat with copper. If you have any other fish in the display, they will need to be moved to qt as well and you will have to go fallow in the display for atleast 76 days....That is assuming it is Ich, not brooks which can look the same.....

Agreed. The clown will need to go through either Copper, Tank Transfer Method or Chloroquine Phosphate. The display should be left fallow for 76 days.
