Hi, is this ick, I have been getting a lot of micro bubbles entering the tank today and I mean a lot and thought it could be the bubbles but none of the other fish have it on them 🥹

Currently desolving medic but wanted to ask before I add it to my tank

Thank you.

Skip the Medic which is merely peroxide salts and very expensive for a small vial. These are mucus cones often from a skin irritation and also mixed in with ich and Often you will notice other occupants show no signs but recommended is to remove all fish and treat them as well using coppersafe or copper power for a full 30 days at 2.25ppm which they respond to well and add an air stone and monitor copper level with a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone.

Thank you.

Unfortunately don’t have a tank large enough for all the fish in this one and that tank also has fish in it currently.

I already had a new unopened bottle of medic, was thinking to use that, I have already desolved the recommended dose in a beaker, just not added yet.

It does not work and you will waste valuable time with proper treatment. You can get a used tank from thrift store or marketplace and even use a rubbermaid type tub

If you’re talking about Polyp Lab reef medic, it only works when ich is mild. Like when you see 3-4 spots on the fish. In your case it’s way too advanced. Don’t waste your money.

You have a couple of options but may not be optimal.
1. If you have no inverts and this is a FOWLR you can run Copperpower in the Tank. It sounds like you have them though.
2. If you have inverts and corals maybe remove them and run Hyposalinity.
3. Could you put a divider in your largest Tank, place the Corals and other Inverts in the other Tank, and then run Hypo on the Large Tank?

One final note. You said you have a second Tank, so Biosecurity is very important, but there is a chance you have already introduced Ich in that one also.

This fish is infested. Hypo is not a good option at this time and there is coral right within the pics. OP said another tank was not an options and suggestions were offered of r used tanks or a tub

I agree that his fish is infested and Hospital Tanks/ Tubs are best option but do take time to aquire and get setup.

Yes, that’s a severe case of ich. Are any other fish showing spots today?

I presume you can’t get coppersafe or copper power where you live?

I think your next best option would be hyposalinity, polyp lab medic rarely works and pretty much fails completely for severe cases like this.

Here are my instructions for hyposalinity:

Thank you for everyone’s replies and suggestions.

We can get copper power, copper safe can order on amazon but won’t be here till next month.

None of the other fish showing any signs and on the purple tang it seems to be mostly gone now 🤔

It came on rapidly last night, i didn’t see it all day, I noticed it after I accidentally dumped in the mysis for both tanks in to this one and had to manually remove a lot using a Turkey Baster.

Please see attached picture.

Edit, I work night and just got up, put some nori in just now and it’s feeding like normal.

As the Ich cycle progresses the trophonts will drop off to reproduce so your fish may show improvement.

Don’t that usually take 3-5 days, only noticed spots last night, 100% did not have them in the afternoon.

They take 3-5 days to drop off the fish, but fish can have it and show no symptoms. It can also affect the gills. Dropping off can be a sign that a treatment is working, or that the parasites will proliferate soon.

Personally I would consider this an active infection until you go at least a month or two with zero signs of it.

That is a very common symptom with ich. When it first shows up, all of the trophonts (the white spots) are all in sync and drop of the fish a round the same time. These then form tomonts, the resting stage that sits on the bottom for 3 to 5 days. These then release tomites/theronts that reinfect the fish which form new trophonts. The new trophonts build in number and size and the infection cycles up again. Eventually, they get out of sync, and the fish have spots all the time, and eventually the fish are overcome. You won’t be able to wait a month. As I mentioned, I think you’ll need to start hyposalinity asap.
